The Power of Belief
A great deal of power is held by our beliefs concerning our value and self-worth. We either harness that power by caring for ourselves or
Spring is in the air…a time of renewal and new beginnings. The cycle of the seasons and the changes it brings to our produce stands and to our appetite is no coincidence. We often eat heavy, nourishing and sustaining foods in fall and winter to get us through the colder months. The foods found in abundance during springtime are those that promote detoxification – a sort of rebirth in the form of nutrition. As the temperatures warm and daylight increases, we naturally gravitate to these lighter foods, leaving the chili and hearty stews behind.
So today, I want to share with you how easy it is to create deliciously vibrant green smoothies. They are an excellent source of energy-boosting nutrition, a fabulous component of any weight loss strategy and they are quick and easy.
This basic recipe can be customized to your particular tastes and according to what fruits and vegetables you have on hand. There is no right or wrong here – have fun with creating your own concoctions!
INGREDIENTS:
1-2 cups dark leafy greens (baby spinach is an excellent first choice if you are new to green smoothies)
3-4 bananas depending on size
3 cups of fruit (single fruit or a combination of your favorites)
Water and/or ice to achieve desired consistency (usually at least 2 cups)
Finally fill blender to the top with your additional fruit. Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust your water to get the consistency you desire – some prefer thinner smoothies. This recipe will easily yield 48-64oz of smoothie. Enjoy a green smoothie to start your day or post-workout for incredible energy.
